Europe
World War I
Fought between Russia, France, Briatin, England and Germany.
Also known as the 5 major powers, joined by other countries. This war was very important because it didn't solve anything and led to a World War II. 10 million people died, just to end up having another war in the end. WWI used a lot of rifles. Rifles hit someone up to 40 yards away, unlike muskets. The German and the French had different guns. WWI ends " The Old World" in Europe. The dynasties that ended in WWI were the Hohenzollern, Prussia, Romenov, Hasburg and Ottomon. In the end Great Britain, France, the USA and their allies were successful in getting back the territory lost to Germany and Austria-Hungary. This still did not cause peace because their was soon to be a WWII.

Internal Causes
Class struggle-
Carl Marx's definition of class struggle is, "The class is defined by the ownership of preoperty."
There were 3 classes that Marx defined.
- The first was the "bourgeoisie"
(Who own productions and machinery to make a profit.)
- The second were "landowners"
(People who made money off of their rents.)
- And lastly the "proletariats"
(People who own their own labor and sell it to others.)
Industrial Revolution causes great disparity of weath-
The industrial revolution was a period of time between the 18th and 19th centuries where major changes in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transportation, and technology were increasing. The industrial revolution was a big influence in every day life. It caused a great spread in wealth between the people depending if they were involved in the revolution or not.

Franz Ferdinand
Ferdinand
Franz Ferdinand Graz, Austria. Franz was the heir to the thrown in Austria, just to become assassinated on June 28th, 1914. His assassanation was the first "spark" to start World War 1. Franz was known as a prideful and not trustable man, he did not know a lot about culture and how important it was to the people. He was also short tempered, which did not make him popular to the people. But more of his unpopularity had to do with his ideas that he was going to inforce when he took thrown. This included changing the way to govern to "Trialism". "Trialism" means having a triple monarchy in which the empire's slavs would have an equal voice in government.
“What is the good of your speeches? I come to Sarajevo on a visit, and I get bombs thrown at me. It is outrageous.” - Franz Ferdninand

"I only know that I fired twice, or perhaps several times, without knowing whether I had hit or missed"

Trench Warfare
In trench warfare soldiers would hide in a deep trench with guns and weapons and attack the opposing team quickly and effitiently. Life in the trenches was very hard on soldiers. Some of the things that they had to encounter while in these trenches were rats, diseases, shellfire and body lice. Most of these things had to deal with cleanliness, and the soldiers didn't have it so they opened themselves up to many more problems. Some of these problems caused so much injury that people would have to be amputated. Also if the soldiers disobeyed their commander they were put at the risk of being executed. The upside of this was the soldiers would typically get a small amount of alchohal every day!
